MinibarRx® COVID-19 FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Can MinibarRx® help manage my COVID-19 vaccine inventory?
Along with temperature monitoring, battery backup and security features, the MinibarRx cabinet has been integrated with our RightNow Inventory™ portal. The RightNow Inventory portal provides reporting capabilities relative to federal and state vaccine management requirements. MinibarRx® also monitors thaw time for frozen vaccines and is equipped to store vaccines in manufacturer packaging.
How many COVID-19 vaccine doses can the MinibarRx store?
MinibarRx® can be configured to carry up to 30 different drugs and up to 5,000 doses.
Will the vaccine remain frozen when placed into the MinibarRx®?
The vaccine will not remain frozen. The MinibarRx® cabinet provides the advantage of monitoring thaw time and indicating when the vaccine is ready for use. In addition, storing the vaccine in the MinibarRx® cabinet provides a longer use time versus being stored at an ambient temperature.
Can MinibarRx® help me keep track of ultra-cold frozen vaccines stored outside the cabinet?
If you are using a hub-and-spoke model to store inventory in large ultra-cold freezers, our Cloud Product Management Solution can provide visibility into all vaccine inventory, including frozen and non-frozen vaccines.
Will the MinibarRx® program report COVID-19 vaccine inventory levels to the CDC?
CDC requires health provides to report Vaccine Inventory levels to VaccineFinder † daily. The Right Now Inventory Portal creates detailed reports that make updating your VaccineFinder data easy.
Does MinibarRx® accommodate all COVID-19 vaccines?
The MinibarRx® system can accommodate the Moderna, Pfizer, and J&J COVID-19 vaccines and automatically track thaw time and beyond use dating (BUD). The Cloud Product Management Solution can help track COVID-19 vaccine inventory in either its frozen or refrigerated condition but does not track thawing or BUDs. As more COVID-19 vaccines come to market, MinibarRx® will inform customers how those vaccines can be stored in the cabinet.
Is the MinibarRx® cabinet a pharmaceutical grade refrigerator?
Yes, the MinibarRx® cabinet is pharmaceutical grade and complies with CDC vaccine storage requirements. Each system has a certificate of calibration.
How does the MinibarRx® track expiration and COVID-19 vaccines beyond use dating (BUD)?
The MinibarRx® uses a combination of on-screen directions and LED light indicators to help providers easily know which cartridge or slot product should be vended from. Once product is placed in the MinibarRx®, the cabinet will keep track of thaw time, beyond use dating and expiration dates. As product is used, MinibarRx® efficiently directs users to dispense product from slots with green LED lights that indicate whether the product is FIFO and/or FEFO. If product is expired, then a red LED light will illuminate to warn users not to select product from that location.
Will the MinibarRx® program work for my facility?
Our customers include practices of every size from boutique retail pharmacies to large IDN and hospital networks. The RightNow Inventory portal allows multi-site customers to have inventory visibility across all locations with either physical cabinets or the Cloud Product Management Solution.
If I am currently a MinibarRx® FDI customer, can I use my current machine to store COVID-19 vaccines?
Current MinibarRx® FDI customers who are interested in managing COVID-19 vaccines will require a separate cabinet registered under the MinibarRx® Monthly Technology Services Agreement.
